Successful Sim4Life Seminar @ ISMRM 2017

Successful Annual ISMRM Sim4Life User Workshop

On April 25, 2017, ZMT Zurich MedTech AG welcomed over 80 implant manufacturers, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) vendors and opinion leaders from academia and industry at the annual ISMRM Sim4Life User Workshop in Honolulu, Hawaii. The event was hosted by Michael Oberle (CEO), Maria Cabanes (Product Head Validation Hardware) and Erdem Ofli (Manager Software Support). At the workshop, participants had the opportunity to listen to several distinguished invited speakers and preview some of ZMT’s latest technological innovations.

Paul Stadnik from Biotronik, USA, delivered an excellent keynote speech on “Current & Future Challenges for Design, Validation and Approval of MRI Conditional Safe Implants”, highlighting how solutions from ZMT helped Biotronik to investigate their products for MRI safety according the new ISO TS 10974. Xin Huang (Abbott, USA), Desmond Yeo (GE Global Research, USA) and Adam Farag (Ceresensa, CA) provided an overview of the adaptability and easy application of ZMT software solutions within their companies. Furthermore, Manual Murbach (IT’IS Foundation, CH) and Alexander Raaijmakers (University Medical Center Utrecht, NL) presented their recent research findings and demonstrated how important Sim4Life is for their research. Finally, ZMT’s latest modules for performing validated numerical and experimental in silico MRI analysis and implant safety evaluations were presented and received a lot of attention. The event closed with a dinner where participants had a chance to discuss open questions and share their experiences with each other.
