Pre-Operative Planning System for Neuromodulation Surgery for Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation

IT’IS is proud to be part of the Eurostars Project PREP2GO: Pre-Operative Planning System for Neuromodulation Surgery for Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation.

The project is a follow up to the successful Eurostars project RESTORE. As a result of an active collaboration, the workflow developed under RESTORE was applied to establish a range of patient-specific treatment plans, guiding surgeries. Additionally, the implant design was optimized and the tools and solvers that were created for that purpose have been applied in a wide range of other projects since and have been released as part of Sim4Life.

The goal of PREP2GO is to develop a new pre-operative workflow for spinal cord injury rehabilitation with a supporting analysis and planning system based on deep learning and computational modeling, that can be easily adopted by clinical centers. The kick-off meeting was held virtually on April 6, 2020, in line with current COVID-19 safety measures, with representatives of all five collaborators present: GTX medical BV (coordinator), École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht (UMCU), the IT’IS Foundation and ZMT Zurich MedTech AG (ZMT).

PREP2GO is funded for 30 months and it is supported by the Eurostars initiative, a joint programme co-funded by EUREKA member countries and by the European Union through Horizon 2020. The program specifically targets the development of rapidly marketable innovative products, processes, and services for improved quality of life.
